Colombia-Lebanese Outdoor Wedding – Lina & Tomas
Dark clouds threatened to compromise the outdoor wedding Colombia-Lebanese ceremony along Cali’s river.Lina’s mother and aunt followed a Colombian folklore. Forks and knives were placed outside to keep the rain away. I don’t know if it was the forks, the knives or the energy of the day, but the sky remained clear for their gorgeous wedding.
Lina and Tomas have a beautiful friendship that turned into a fairytale romance. She laughed when we talked about Bride and groom portraits. She said and I quote “we are best friends, we are not romantic.” I loved that. I also loved how calm these two were regarding the details and scheduling of their wedding. Lina wore old comfortable shoes with her gorgeous wedding dress.. When she told me that, I immediately knew we would get along.
I arrived at Lina’s home early in the afternnoon on the day of the non religious ring ceremony. She was accompanied by her friends and sister were there while final touches of hair and make up were applied. Lina was still jittery and feeling a bit nervous, but nothing a few sisters couldn’t fix. With music, wine, and delicious middle eastern sweets those sisters helped Lina relax.
Family and friends traveling from Lebanon, Europe and the USA to Cali, Colombia to celebrate with the couple. The outdoor ceremony that took place on the grounds of the Museo La Tertulia. This was a first for the museum, for Cali and of course myself. Never before has the museum hosted a wedding. It proved to be a wonderful and interesting location for a ceremony and cocktail hour. The reception was held in the Club Colombia where family and friends danced the night away with Lebanese and Colombian traditions merging into an eclectic fiesta.
Thank you Lina and Tomas for including me in your day and trusting me with your memories.
