Hamptons Family Photography-The Coles-Southampton
Karen Cole and I know each other through six degrees of separation. We put the pieces together at a Southampton Family event a few years ago. She is from Colombia and is married to a New Yorker. I am from New York and married to a Colombian. She lives in New York and I live in Colombia. Her best friend growing up is my best friend now that I am grown up. We both spend our summer in the Southampton. Funny, right? I love six degrees of separation.
We quickly became friends on social media and realized we had even more friends in common. Karen became a huge fan on my Family photography work. So when she asked me if I would photograph her family’s day in late august in their Southampton home, I was really excited.
A Day In the Life, documentary family photography
Karen was eager for me to capture her family of 6 in action. She wanted nothing posed, she wanted the personalities of each of her kids to shine through, She wanted to remember how they spent their summer days together in a family.
Lots of different family dynamics with in the diverse age group. The youngest is still having his diaper changed and the oldest is studying for his bar mitzvah. Despite the age gap between kids, the Coles are a very united family. Although there were many times each kid was off doing their own thing, most of the day was spent together, swimming, playing, biking, tennis or a cooking.
The two older boys look after the younger two children, playing, sharing and helping. It was so fun to witness their relationships, friendship and love. Check out them out, I am sure you will love them as much as I do.
