Sunday Morning with the Duncan Family
A Sunday morning in New York City is a nice change from the hustle and busstle the rest of the week in the city. You could almost say that a Sunday in NYC is relaxing. This particular Sunday morning in early June, the weather was just perfect. The sun was shining and there was not a cloud in the sky. The streets were quiet, and the coffee shops weren’t even open when I was looking for a cup of coffee. The city that never sleeps seemed to have forgotten to wake up! This gorgeous day I was going to photograph a few hours in the life of the Duncan Family.
Soon after I arrived at their home early sunday morning, there was a jam session with George and his son Olen. They played some tunes on the guitar while the girls danced around in the living room. And if this Sunday is not relaxing enough, there was a short yoga session for Dad and the kids. This was great, immediately I knew these guys had personality and I was excited to get to know them better throughout the morning.
So what do you do in NYC on a beautiful day, you get out of your apartment, and you walk around. If there is not a park near by, you make one. George and Olen turned a back alley way into a baseball field, the sidewalk is a perfectly place to throw a football, just as long as you don’t hit anyone! The street was their playground. New Yorkers are creative.
After a nice brunch with friends we headed back to their apartment to get ready for Georgette’s dance recital. I would have been thrilled to spent the entire day with this family. They were sweet, fun, funny, creative and have great taste in music. Until the next visit.
