Since 1556, Semana Santa, the holy week leading up to Easter, has been celebrated with daily religious processions. Elaborate wood platforms bear religious status depicting different stages of the life and death of Jesus.Weighing approximately 550 kilos, these floats are carried by eight men.

Popayán, Cauca (Colombia), renowned as the white city, has faithfully observed tis tradition since its inception. Tthese processions have earned th prestigious recognition from UNESCOS as Intagnible Heritigage of Humanity.
